Dear parents,
In honor of Yom Yerushalayim this past Sunday, the class learned all about the symbol of Yerushalayim, its seventy names, special places in it and more!
Last week, each child received half of a picture of a famous place in Yerushalayim and was tasked with coloring in the remainder of the picture. Then, each student put his picture in a special window frame to make their own window into Yerushalayim. Then, on Friday, after reading a book about the many names of Yerushalayim the children wrote their own names that they loved for Yerushalayim on a "brick." These two projects are now displayed beautifully on our bulletin board.
To continue the festivities, yesterday the class had a huge Yom Yerushalayim celebration with six different stations with fun and educational activities! At the different stations, the children played Israeli Go Fish about places in Yerushalayim, colored in the symbol of Yerushalayim, carved pictures of Yerushalayim into special gold paper, made Yerushalayim out of edible treats, took a virtual tour of Yerushalayim on the Smart Board, and played "I Spy" looking for the many names of Yerushalayim. All in all, it was a great day! The children had so much fun and were so creative.
A belated Yom Yerushalayim Sameach!
