1A: Researching and Writing About Beetles

Our first graders are extending their learning about beetles across the curriculum.  The students are working with their reading groups to research specific information about beetles.  Next, they will analyze the information that they have found and use it to compose individual pages for a class book about beetles.  As they work, the students are applying the nonfiction reading and writing strategies that they learned earlier in the year, and synthesizing the new information that they are learning with the information that they have learned about beetles in science class.
