Our writing process

Dear parents,

As you know, all week the class has been focusing on the story, האריה שאהב תות, The Lion that Loved Strawberries. Over the course of the week, the class has read the book multiple times, and each day they focused on a page or two of the story in particular. Then, every day after reviewing the story, the students wrote their own versions of the story by filling in the missing words on each page and illustrating the pages. Finally, after working hard each day on the papers, and, of course, making beautiful covers for their stories, yesterday they put their books all together.

Now today, after really getting to know the story very well, the first graders invited one of the kindergarten classes to come and listen to them read their stories. Each two children from first grade were paired up with two or three children from kindergarten, who were eager to hear the story of האריה שאהב תות. I truly enjoyed seeing how wonderfully the books came out and how well the students were able to read in Hebrew to their younger schoolmates. It was so amazing to see how much the kindergarten students looked up to the first graders, and how much the first graders had grown and progressed since they too were in kindergarten. What a great end to an awesome week!

Shabbat shalom!
