After reading different versions of The Little Red Hen all week, today we had Little Red Hen centers! The children read a Little Red Hen "poem for two voices" with a partner, did a word search, read and analyzed different versions of the story, solved related word problems, and even had a chance to act out the folk tale with miniature animals. Next week the first graders will begin writing their own versions of the story in writer's workshop.
