Dear Parents,
We have concluded our Opinion Writing unit in Writer's Workshop, and each of the first graders have written several reviews of different places. The children each chose one review to publish, and together with Morah Shira, they searched the internet and selected a picture to go along with their reviews. Also, In honor of Read Across America Day on Monday, March 2nd, our class will be celebrating the conclusion of our Lynn Plourde Author Study. Over the past few weeks, we have read numerous books by Lynn Plourde, including Pajama Day, a class favorite. For our celebration next Monday, the first graders are invited to come to school in their PAJAMAS! (Please note, regular dress code guidelines-skirts to the knees for girls, kippah and tzitzit for boys-still apply.) Like the children in the book Pajama Day, your children are also invited to bring a teddy bear, favorite bedtime story, and breakfast snack (such as a small baggie of cereal.) In class, we will be doing a variety of activities related to Lynn Plourde and her books. We are looking forward to an exciting celebration!
Finally, your children are bringing home the March Scholastic Book Orders today. If you are interested in ordering books this month, please submit your order by next Monday, March 2nd.
