Today the first graders began the process of revising their all-about books by thinking about how to write an interesting introduction. The students studied two mentor texts with interesting beginnings, one that started with a question and one that started with an exclamation. The students then chose one of these strategies to try when writing their own introductions for their all-about books. After the students tried their hands at their own introductions, they added their name to our class chart to show which strategy they tried. Finally, the children had the opportunity to share their writing with a peer. Their books are already amazing!
